Amidst wrapping up the last few days of New Mobility World, we are thrilled to announce the winners of the NMW Lab17 Challenge.

Freshmen Final: Hawa Dawa seduced the Jury

Finalists from five different countries came to Frankfurt to present their amazing ideas and pitch their projects to a panel of judges. The jury was made of Philipp Hartman (Principal – Index Ventures), Orlie Dahan (Executive Director – Ecomotion), Marc Evangelista (Vice President IPO Europe – Michelin), Saul Reichman (Technology Innovation Advisor – Carasso Motors), Tanja Kufner (Director – Startupbootcamp) and Dirk Reusch (Publishing Director – Media Manufaktur) on Thursday for the Freshmen’s pitch.

Our five Freshmen Akoustic Arts from France, CarPay-Diem from Luxembourg, Hawa Dawa from Germany, neteera from Israel and TeleRetail from Switzerland took over the stage with the hope to win the first prize. Competition was fierce! Ultimately, with its real-time air quality maps, Hawa Dawa, the winner of the competition, convinced the jury that its service was valuable for future cities and worth being supported. They are being awarded a media package from Media Manufaktur worth 30,000€ and coworking spaces at FluxUnit in Munich amongst other exciting prizes. A special prize was also awarded to TeleRetail for their excellent autonomous systems that automates local logistics. They won a place in the Focus acceleration program (a value of 50,000€), courtesy of Usine.IO.

Senior Final: TerraLoupe hit the Jackpot

On Friday for the Senior’s pitch, Jerry Yang (General Partner – Hardware Club), Kat Borlongan (Founding Partner – Five by Five), Holger Weiss (Founder – Chris AI), Yann de Vries (Partner – Atomico), Laura Grimmelmann (Investor – Accel) and Henri Kühnert (Co-Founder – b10 VC) had the hard task to select the best startup.

The competition was equally fierce on Friday! The Senior startups Evopark, High Mobility, Pace Telematics and TerraLoupe from Germany, as well as Lattis from the United States, brought their innovative ideas on stage to convince our jury of mobility experts and offered an amazing performance. TerraLoupe, with its precise mapping of aerial imagery & geospatial intelligence making use of deep learning algorithms wowed the jury and won first place. They were awarded a wildcard to the Harware.co Batch 7 Smart Mobility & Logistics program (a value of 20,000€), a business trip to Beijing courtesy of Techcode and more!

Congratulation to everyone and huge thanks to all our generous prize partners!
