We’re fresh from our visit to SXSW, and what an incredible experience it was!
We saw Elon Musk crash the Westworld panel to speak about humanity possibly heading to Mars as early as next year, although he humourously admitted to having some difficulties with timelines. Watch the full talk on the dangers of AI, business, and the future of mobility possibly being space travel to Mars!
The NMW team also had the privilege of listening to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, on the responsibility of tech companies for the impact they are having, whether this be connecting friends and family, or helping in spreading fake news. He also mentioned the threat of governments regulating tech companies, such as a law passed by Germany in 2017 which allows the country to fine social networks up to €50 million if they fail to remove abusive posts within 24 hours.
Another great talk was by the Crown Prince of Norway, one of the happiest countries in the world. Here HRH Crown Prince Haakon elaborated on why the citizens of a country with more than a trillion(!) dollars in the Sovereign Wealth Fund are devoting their time and tech to solving real problems.
Behind-the-Scenes at SXSW
We were honored to moderate a panel on in-car assistants and autonomous driving, as well as co-hosting a networking lunch on the future of mobility. A huge thank you is owed to our panelists Daniel Mieves (German Autolabs), Stuti Pandey (MOIA), Helmut Scherer (Futurice), and Marcel Thiemann (Xapix); our co-hosts moovel, and the teams of the German Haus and Reason Why Berlin for having us!
